Stephanie Ruth Roston is a performer, scholar, and educator based in the Midwest. She holds an MAR in Liturgical Studies and Interdisciplinary Arts through Yale Divinity School and Yale’s Institute of Sacred Music, a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, and a certificate in Urban Leadership. Her current work broadly examines the presence of worship and artistry in community formation, civic agency, and negotiating relationship and responsibility in a more-than-human world. Her recent work includes the iterative choreographic installation, It Takes Time, scholarly and creative writing publication, and performances with The Remember Balloons and The Remember Balloons LIVE! under the direction of Dominic Moore-Dunson. In addition to her work in local contexts, Roston has also taught and performed internationally in Japan, Exuma, Canada, Malaysia, and Vietnam She was a company member with Inlet Dance Theatre in Cleveland, OH 2018-2024, also serving as the company’s video production coordinator, and is part of the North American performing talent for Polyglot Children’s Theatre. Roston also worked designing and editing curriculum for The Evangelical Environmental Network and contributes to their liturgical resources, political advocacy, and local sustainability efforts. Her passion for community formation also extends to her service as co-host and editor for the Simply Neighbors podcast where she and her husband DaQuavion Roston, along with their neighbors, blend their heart for storytelling with grassroots community building in Cleveland, OH.
